About The Shelby/Daniels songwriting team
Like most familiar stories, Rita and Willie began in the church. While Rita was sitting at her mother’s side on the piano bench, Willie was cranking out holy wonders for congregations throughout Memphis, Tennessee. They met while at Overton High School of the Performing Arts. Many years later they reconnected in Los Angeles and collaborated on the music for A Date With A Song. Rita brings the words and melodies. Willie brings the music to complete the masterpiece! Four of the Shelby/Daniels collaborations appear in the DVD Walk By Faith and “Cherish The Moment” is in another DVD titled ‘Fair Game.’ Rita and Willie share a passion for music and they hope to join the long list of songwriters who have made history. Here are the new standards, here is the music of Rita Shelby and Willie Daniels.
LaRita Shelby and Willie Daniels Co-composed four songs for the movie Walk By Faith; including the title track. Our specialty is jazz and gospel but we write in all genres!
